I am not one of those people who must have lots of kitchen gadgets.  I like to keep things simple, and not load up on so many extra things that I really just don’t use much.  Who has room to store a million gadgets? But I DO have some things that I just love for one reason or another.

In no particular order . . .

This stainless steel cheese grater gets a lot of use here in the land of Parmigiano Reggianno.  I’ve had other cheese graters made of plastic and metal, but this is a big heavy duty one and makes grating cheese a breeze.

My herb chopper . . . just roll it back and forth for fast, easy, uniform chopping.

After trying many different types, I have settled on this great knife sharpener.  There’s nothing worse than having a dull knife.

Hubby loves chopped salads, so these lettuce scissors make preparation a snap.

My aerolatte – for frothing milk for my latte’s and hot chocolates.

This immersion blender has changed my life.  It’s great for soups, sauces, dressings, milkshakes, etc.

Also one of my favorite things is shown in this picture above: my one-handled rolling pin that belonged to my great-grandmother.  She taught me how to make pies using this very rolling pin when I was a little girl.  I never remember a time when it had two handles – one was always missing.  And that’s just the way it will stay for all eternity for sentimental reasons.

I have a family of these scoops in different sizes.  I use them so often.  Not only do they make it so easy to manipulate batter, dough, meat, etc., but they also make everything so perfectly uniform.  Great for meatballs, cupcakes, cookies, and all those little individual hors d’oeuvres that I love to make.

I truly resisted purchasing a spiralizer.  I was content using my little hand-held version that works just like a pencil sharpener.  But I’ve been cooking more and more spiralized veggies every week, and frankly, my wrist was wearing out.  It was a workout!  After researching, I chose this one.  It is super easy to set up and use, and clean up is a breeze.  It’s lightweight and it has little suction cups on the feet to hold it in place.   The price was right on an Amazon Deal of the Day, so I broke down and ordered it. No regrets for this purchase!  Literally, it took me less than 2 minutes to make these gorgeous butternut squash noodles. img_9149

I really love my tea, and have an assortment of average diffusers, and even a diffuser pot.

But my favorite infusers are from my son, Nick, who always buys the best presents.  Aren’t these so cute floating in your cup of tea?  Don’t you agree that they’d make your tea taste better?

There is absolutely no redeeming value to this object.  It’s of poor quality and totally unnecessary, but it makes me smile every single time.  Who doesn’t need a fuschia colored Lock Ness Monster ladle?

Not everything in life has to be necessary or practical.  Sometimes it’s enough just to have something that has no other purpose than to make you smile. 🙂
