Just what is it about weekends that makes me lose all my willpower?  I truly believe it’s all about the planning.  I plan well for my daily food for the weekdays, but often neglect to plan for the weekends.  This week I had fully planned for Friday’s dinner out to be an exception.  But even then, I made the mistake of not passing on the bread basket. Then we got another offer for dinner out on Saturday.  I’ve said it time and time again to everyone I coach with their eating – NOT EVERYTHING CAN OR SHOULD BE AN EXCEPTION!  I broke my own rule.  Choose only one meal each week to be your exception, and do your best to plan for it.

That being said, let me tell you about some of the amazing things I ate that were not in my plan.  🙂   image3

On Friday, our club offered some specials as part of their Restaurant Week menu that were simply divine.  I had an appetizer of sage pappardelle with house-made sausage and black peppercorn cream.  It was to die for!  I was full after that, but still managed to eat the Thai seafood green curry that I washed down with an awesome Albarino, and followed that with a semi-sweet chocolate brûlée with caramel sauce and a pretzel praline. What a special treat!  Saturday night, I was unable to resist the lemon mascarpone berry cake that the waitress rattled off as part of her list of available desserts.  Oh my, but my mouth just watered remembering this fresh, moist, flavorful and light treat.

So today I climbed back on the wagon.  Skip the butter.  Skip the pasta.  Skip the wine.  Oh wait – check that last one.  I cannot skip the wine.

Monday:        Spicy Shrimp Pho (that I was supposed to have made this weekend, but didn’t.  It’s going to be a rainy day, so this will be good!)

Tuesday:        Chopped Salad with Rotisserie Chicken

Wednesday:  Steak Fajita Skewers with Cilantro Sauce with lime cilantro cauliflower rice

Thursday:      dinner at friends’ home

Friday:            Shrimp Scampi over Zoodles

Saturday:       dinner in Philadelphia

Sunday:          Mediterranean Stuffed Chicken with Haricots Verts (my favorite veggie)
