I found this idea on Pinterest and thought “Oh, what a cute idea”!  It certainly wasn’t difficult, but it was oh-so-time-consuming!

First I made a double batch of white cake, split it into 4 equal parts, and colored each part a different color.
Once the cakes were baked and cooled, I shredded them with a fork.

I put a layer of pink into the bottom of a jar, and tapped it down lightly. Then I repeated this for 13 more jars.

I followed each addition of different colored cake with a piped layer of vanilla buttercream icing, and topped them all with sprinkles.

Like I said, not difficult, but about 4 hours of my life I’ll never get back. 😂 Truthfully, it was my first time making these and I did have a lot of interruptions.

Aren’t they pretty?

Because Quality Control is so important, I also made tester cupcakes for my hubby to test for me.  He tested the vanilla buttercream a LOT. He’s just helpful and generous like that. 😜

I hope the grandkiddos like them!

There’s a fine layer of confectioners sugar all over my kitchen.  Would someone please come clean up my mess?
