On February 6, 2015, I woke up as a 50-year-old woman. A momentous moment in anyone’s life to be sure, but so much more special because I woke up that day in Paris!
My darling husband treated me to a trip to Paris for my 50th birthday. It was a dream I had had for so long, and it turned out to be one of the most special and romantic times of my life. <3
On this day, we took a day trip out of Paris to Reims in the Champagne region of France. We had an amazing tour guide and a wonderful day seeing some special sights.

But the best part of the day was to visit and tour a mid-size champagne cellar called Champagne Cuperly.
There really isn’t anything not to love about champagne. I love the hypnotic magic of watching a glass of champagne with its special little dance of tiny bubbles continously rising to the top. Champagne is the drink of celebrations, special times, and memories in the making. This champagne was the best I had ever tasted – maybe because I was in France with the love of my life and every little thing was just oh-so-romantic. But the teeny tiny little bubbles just exploded in my mouth. Each sip felt like I was tasting magic. We bought a couple of bottles (because we had no more room!) to bring home with us in our suitcase. These bottles were saved for special occasions.
We recently enjoyed our last bottle. Instead of throwing out the bottle, a friend of mine who works with glass, turned it into this for us.
It is now a melted piece of art that hangs on our wall in our living room-turned- Paris Bistro. I’m so very happy to have this, as every time I look at it, a rush of a million romantic memories will rush forward and fill me with all the happiness of that time. And the day I turned 50 years old.
